I need some help. I’ve lived in Birmingham for over two years and I don’t feel like I really know it at all yet. Really getting to know a place takes time, and friends, and lots of good and bad experiences. And feeling at home somewhere takes a lot longer. I think having good memories and special places helps a lot.
I want to test out all the best places to eat, drink, visit and see to make me some of my very own Birmingham memories and special places.
I want to try the little places that are tucked away off the beaten track, as well as the big places that everyone has heard of. I’d like to visit the places that are special, that make this place stand out from others, and that make Brummies proud to live here.
And that’s where i’d like to be cheeky and ask for people who have a great recommendation, or secret little place they don’t mind being not so secret anymore (I can’t help but re-read this like Calamity Jane) to let me know. I will do my best to go along and try them out – and share my experiences along the way here. Then i’ll pass the good ones on and in the doing, create the ultimate Birmingham Bucket List.
Here’s some of the things that I think I should try out:
1. Try out the FOUR restaurants in Birmingham that have Michelin stars – Purnell’s, Simpson’s, Adam’s and Turners.
2. Go to Cadbury’s World. Yes – it’s only a few miles form my house and I have not been since i was teeny when I went with my dad!
3. Have a night out at Birmingham’s German markets.
4. Have a proper Balti in a Balti restaurant, and maybe even leaner to make one myself.
If you have any recommendations, i’d love to hear them. There’s a little comment just right here…..
