I’ve not shared any of my bedroom before because it isn’t quite finished, however my dressing table area has come together nicely.
When we moved in to the house, I knew I wanted to create a master suite on the second floor. A bit of reconfiguring and knocking down of walls later and we now have a large master room, dressing room and en suite. There is a raised section of our room (we call it the stage!) which we think was raised by the previous owners as the window is exceptionally high. I’ve turned this bit in to my dressing table area complete with shelves to store books, shoes, bags etc
It has pretty much been finished for years now, but I keep adding to it and I am sure it will continue to evolve. I started with my dressing table. I wanted something white, simple and modern. I really wanted this dressing table but it was a little out of my budget so I opted for this one from Ikea and it does the job. I am toying with the idea of adding these gorgeous pull handles to it, which would elevate it to a new level I think.
The next item I knew I wanted was a round mirror – when I was looking a few years ago the options were very limited and I managed to track this Habitat mirror down by getting it second hand from Gumtree. I am tempted to replace it with a bronze mirror like this (or check out the rose gold option) but I know I should really be saving the funds for finishing other areas of the house first.
The rest came together easily. A few home made built in shelves for displaying pretty things, a tray for perfumes, plenty of books, and finally, no dressing table would be complete without a vase of flowers.
As I am notoriously bad at keeping flowers and plants alive, I have fully embraced the faux flower trend. Whilst of course I would prefer fresh flowers on my dressing table, it simply isn’t realistic to keep up and it is absolutely impossible to have fresh peonies 365 days a year! These beauties from Cox and Cox are brilliant; they look realistic, don’t wilt and die and can happily sit on my dressing table all year round.
What do you think?
I have linked tomost of the items below but if you’d like to know where something is from, just ask:
