Last weekend I walked to my local village, Moseley for lunch in a little cafe that has been doing ever so well since it opened last year. Damascena describe themselves as your local far away coffee house, and that fits them perfectly.
Decorated with twinkling lanterns, the cafe has a delicious minty aroma mixed with great, strong coffee. It serves a medley of meze dishes as well as a selection of decadent looking pastries.
I started with a rather delicious avocado and dried fruit milkshake, which was thick, luxurious and creamy.
And a selection of dishes, all of which are very good value.
A selection of delicious pastries of which the salmon one was INCREDIBLE but sadly I didn’t get a picture of it as it got eaten too quickly! You’ll have to take my word for it. The others were great too…
Fatuush salad – fresh and crunchy
Feta, cheese and mint fatayer
And a makali salad
The flavours were refreshing and delicious, and I am looking forward to going back to try more from the menu. Every time I go passed this place there are plenty of people enjoying it, which is always a good sign.
They also have a small patio, which they have decked out beautifully.
Doesn’t it look lovely. You can see what they have on offer here.
