Well, I never thought I had so much to share about my trip to Indonesia but turns out I had loads! Our last couple of days in the far flung, tiny island of Gili Air were really very relaxed.
We sunbathed.
Sipped on young, fresh coconuts.
Swam with colourful fish in the bath-warm sea.
And drank gin and tonics at sunset – which were buy one get one free, and only about £1.20 for two.
In the evenings, we walked down the mud track to one of the beach bars which served freshly caught fish, fresh vegetables and great hunks of meat all waiting to be grilled up to perfection on a barbecue.
Zipp Bar was our favourite. It served delicious cocktails, wonderful and cheap cheap food, and had these awesome beach huts for you to eat your meal and relax in.
Mr B really got the hang of the relaxing lark!
Our jet lag was playing funny games with us and by the last couple of days, we couldn’t keep our eyes open a minute passed 10pm. So early to bed, and early to rise…which meant by the last day we were wide awake in time to see the sun rise over neighbouring Lombok.
And we had the delight of seeing the ponies get a refreshing morning dip before starting their tough day carting people about on the island.
We left Gili Air feeling peaceful, rejuvenated and absolutely gutted to leave. Our boat whisked us back to Bali, treating us to this final beautiful view before we headed back to the airport to start our long journey home.
Thank you Indonesia. I loved you.
