So, i’ve only gone and hit the big 30. I know most people really worry about it, but for me I was just looking forward to the holiday that I got to go on to celebrate it! I picked somewhere I probably wouldn’t go for a regular holiday - the glamourous South of France.
Sadly, that’s not my boat. But a girl can dream, right.
We took an afternoon flight from Birmingham to Nice, and had been told to keep an eye out of the window during our descent. We were not disappointed with the views over the coast as we came in to land.
We jumped in the poshest taxi I have ever come across over to our hotel The Five Seas in Cannes, where the super efficient and friendly staff gave us refreshments, and then very kindly (and much to my delight) upgraded our standard room to a junior suite.
After a very hectic weekend - it was my sisters wedding the day before - we popped out for a quick exploration of our new town and a bite to eat, before hitting the hay for an early-ish night.
The next morning I was awoken by the sun streaming through any gap it could find in the black out curtains, and a pile of gifts and cards to open!
With much excitement, we threw some clothes on and headed up to the roof for breakfast.
There was an amazing buffet with a huge selection of, well, pretty much anything you could have wanted to eat for breakfast. And a menu of things you could order from the kitchen.
I started with a plate of delicious exotic fruit.
Followed by a perfectly cooked poached egg and salmon.
After stuffing our faces, we had quick showers and headed out in the sun to explore.
It is VERY glamorous, and there are a lot of big boats.
Staff on the boats were hard at work making sure every last piece of the boat was clean and sparkling.
We stood and watched in awe as this boat attempted to get in to a space much too small for it.
But, even though we were holding our breath, the captain was obviously not in the least worried by his own abilities and he sailed into the spot with ease.
Mr B and I had a very serious discussion about which boat we would most like. This is his choice.
A quick Google told us it was around £50,000 a week to hire. So I picked something a little more affordable.
After spending far too long ogling the boats, we headed off along the beach.
Stopping for a bit of shade where we could find it.
For those interested in fashion, I’m wearing Massimo Dutti shorts, a Mango vest top (similar here) and bargain sandals that I found in Asda, with my much loved Zara fringed bag - now MASSIVELY reduced here.
Mr B is sporting a Boggi shirt (similar here and here), shorts from John Lewis (similar here and here) and Havaianas available here.
By this time, champagne o’clock really was overdue so we headed to the top floor of the Radission Blu.
The roof terrace is the perfect place on a hot day to catch a breeze and stand above the town taking in the beautiful scenery. Just look at the colour of that water.
With the wind in my hair, and a glass of champers in hand, I was a pretty happy bunny.
Unable to tear ourselves away from the view, we ordered lunch. A rich, creamy and refreshing gazpacho for me.
And the biggest chicken caesar salad for the gentleman.
Although the service wasn’t particularly fast (there were some people who looked *were* richer than us and got most of the attention, the food was superb. Take a look at there 360 restaurant here.
We noticed the clouds had been rolling in, and when we got down to ground level there was a fairly ominous feel to the air.
The sky turned black. Thunder rumbled.
And the heavens opened.
We dashed back to our hotel to watch the impressive lightening show from the safety of our suite, and to get ready for an evening out on the town. I’ll tell you all about that very soon.

Thanks Christina! I had a great time, and I am sure you will too, it is kind of hard not to there! Be ready for the boat envy though. Will post a couple more blogs up on my time in the Cote d’azure in the next few days too.
