Breakfast smoothie

This is one smooth operater.

Smoothies are quick, easy, versatile and healthy. And they come with buckets of smugness.

I have been juicing for a few years now, and love it. I think it is something about that smug feeling you get when you have the majority of your five a day in one drink! But the juicer is a bit of a faff to clean, so the other morning I thought I’d make a smoothie and I have made one for breakfast everyday now.

I am sure you know how to make a smoothie, but I loved how easy and nutritious this was so wanted to share it, in the hope it encouraged you to dust down your blender and get smoothie-ing too.

Ingredients

1 banana chopped
Handful of blueberries
Handful of strawberries, de-headed and chopped
A kiwi, peeled and chopped
A dash of orange/fruit juice
2-3 spoonfuls of natural or Greek yoghurt
Honey to sweeten if required (this time of year the fruit is sweet so i’ve not needed to)

Method - blend and drink!

You can use fresh, or frozen fruit, and mix up the ingredients as much as you like. Blackberries, mango, raspberries, peaches - any soft fruit would be great.

Drink one of these bad boys for breakfast and you can saunter off into the day with a bit of a spring in your step. A bit like going to the gym before work, but ever so slightly less stressful.

Hi Claire - a couple of additional tips. Get a bullet smoothie maker, I.e. One where you out all the ingredients into the container that you drink out of, the blade screws on for the smoothie making and then it’s replaced with a drinking cap. Perfect to save in washing up. Second, frozen fruit is best as a) it’s picked at the perfect ripeness and then frozen so still packed with goodness (fresh fruit generally picke early so it’s not gone off by the time it’s in the shop) an also makes the smoothie chilled.

I have 4-5 smoothies a week, personally love mango and blueberries!
