5 skincare products I bought in the US

There are some things that are cheaper to buy in the United States than they are in good ol’ UK, and American branded skincare is certainly one of them.

Here are the skincare buys from my recent trip to Chicago.

I almost bought most of this stuff before I went, but a little bit of research showed me they were a lot cheaper across the pond.

1. Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil
They say: Instantly activate a radiant, youthful glow. Powerful 100% concentrated rose hips oil activates skin’s natural reparative ability with potent antioxidants and essential fatty acids to reveal skin’s youthful state – bright, resilient and radiant.
I say: This has helped my skin heal and is really moisturising - I mix it in with my moisturiser as part of my night time skincare routine.

Where to buy:
US: Sephora at $45
UK: Feel Unique at £47

2. Ole Henriksen Truth Creme Advanced Hydration
They say: Advanced Hydration Complex™ provides multi-level moisturisation working in five different ways to deliver powerful anti-aging benefits and unparalleled hydration. Vitamin C naturally brightens, lightens, and tightens whilst Tripeptide-5 Stimulates collagen synthesis to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles.
I say: I think this is lovely - fresh, energising and brightening. I use it as part of my morning skincare routine.

Where to buy:
US: Sephora at $45
UK: Feel Unique at £41

3. Kieh’s Creamy Eye Treatment
They say: The formula does not migrate into eyes and is Ophthalmologist and Dermatologist-Tested.
I say: I am not married to the idea of using an eye cream. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. I normally use the pots you get from the make-up counters as part of a deal, rather than actually actively buy an eye cream but I always suffer from the same problem - it gets into my eyes and I cry. This however, is designed to not get into the ye and make you cry and I can tell you this - it works! Don’t be put off by it’s avocado green colour though….

Where to buy:
US: Nordstrom at $28.50
UK: Space NK for £20

4. Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream
They say: As restorative as it is gentle, Goat Milk Cream moisturizes and soothes dry or damaged skin. Along with natural ingredients—like Aloe, Jojoba, and Avocado—this gentle formula utilizes Lactic Acid to reveal a fresh, renewed complexion. Rich Jojoba and Avocado hydrate and condition to create unparalleled smoothness. Naturally soothing Aloe calms skin. Grape Seed Extract, a natural antioxidant, is designed to neutralize free radicals. Lactic Acid (found naturally in milk) is designed to exfoliate, while preserving the skin’s delicate pH levels.
I say: I love this (except for the annoying push down dispenser it comes in). It is really gentle, doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin and feels very nourishing. This is my night cream.

Where to buy:
US: Sephora at $65
UK: Not available to buy in shops but they will ship. Add on the $25 and import fees to the cost of the product. SOMEBODY STOCK THIS STUFF, PLEASE!

5. Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster
They say: Like a daily vitamin for your face, this high powered vitamin C complex helps smooth out lines and wrinkles and prevents further damage. Loaded with antioxidants to fight off environmental aggressors and moisture-binding ingredients to keep your skin nourished and protected, this aromatic serum is absorbed instantly and penetrates to the deeper layers of the skin to provide long term results. Sensitive skin prone to irritation will benefit immensely from the calming properties of this oil-free serum.
I say: My skin is definitely more glowy, and if the reviews are anything to go by it could certainly be down to this product. I use it twice a day, after cleansing and before oil/moisturser.

Where to buy:
US: Sephora at $48
UK: Feel Unique at £47
