If, like me, you love a luxury boutique hotel, then reading that The Pig on the Beach was voted best hotel in the UK in The Times will have left an impression. The kind of impression that stays with you until you can come up with a good enough excuse to visit. And that’s exactly what happened to me. I took the opportunity to buy Mr B some vouchers for The Pig to celebrate his birthday at the end of May, and off we excitedly went.

My desire for a Beni Ourain rug, a traditional Berber rug from the Atlas mountains in Morocco, has not been a secret (see here)!
So I’m not going to pretend my recent trip to Marrakech wasn’t at least partially influenced by the need to get my hands on one.

After our exciting stay in Kasbah Tamadot in the Atlas Mountains (where I became a wife-to-be) we headed back down to lower ground to our originally planned destination, the medina.
It is an old fortified city, jam packed with people, donkeys, stalls, tourists, motorbikes, dirt tracks and terracotta walls. They call it the red city.
If you read yesterday’s post, you’ll have seen that Mr B surprised me with a detour on our Moroccan visit and whisked me off to a luxury retreat in the mountains for a night.
