This grapefruit and basil cocktail is easy to make and tastes like summer itself!
It is perfect for those balmy summer evenings or helping to make it feel like it is balmy and warm, even if the weather isn’t playing ball!
I have always had a soft spot for grapefruit and over the last few months my love for it has grown with it being one of my few pregnancy cravings.
It is only natural then that I wanted to get it into as many things as possible and as I have been missing my cocktail fix of late, what better way than combine the two together.
I’ve created one version for those drinking and one version for those who are not. Both are divine, both will impress your friends and guests and they are easy enough to whip up after work on a Friday if you fancy a bit of a treat.
And as far as I am concerned, this cocktail contains one of your five a day* so what’s not to love?

Grapefruit and basil cocktail/mocktail
To make a cocktail for one, you’ll need:
1 shot of gin for drinkers
2 shots of Seedlip Grove 42 for non-drinkers
About 8 basil leaves (and one to decorate if you’re feeling fancy)
The juice of one red grapefruit
A handful of ice cubes
Sugar to taste if required (I prefer mine without)
Then it is as simple as:
Add your ice cubes, basil leaves, grapefruit juice, sugar if you are having and either the gin or Seedlip to a cocktail shaker. Pop on the lid and give it a really good shake up!
If you have one, use a cocktail strainer to pour out the liquid into a gorgeous glass (like these beauties), catching everything else. If you don’t have one, just use the lid of the cocktail shaker to hold back the ice/basil and bigger lumps of grapefruit. Garnish with a basil leaf and serve.
Get ready to make another quickly as these are very more-ish!
