Five must-have home accessories

Home Accessories

I love how home accessories can make such a big impact on the overall look and feel of a home, not to mention how they can elevate it.

From styling show homes at work and of course in my own home, I have seen first-hand how a room can come to life with a few select accessories. Not only can they completely change the look and feel of a space but the right home accessories can take your interiors from boring to seriously stylish.

There are a handful of home accessories that I have in pretty much every room in my house that are my go-to for upping the style stakes – big budgets not necessary.

My five must-have home accessories

Here is my round up of those non-negotiable finishing touches for the home.

Plants and greenery

Home Accessories

You’ll already know that I love a bit of greenery in my home and I am pretty sure I have a plant in every single room. They instantly transform a room into something much more homely and I love the pop of natural colour that they bring. I’ve even got a couple of faux plants in spaces that I simply can’t keep a real one alive for long in!

Throws and cushions

Ahh, comfort! There is nothing like a squishy cushion to make a sofa or chair look inviting and throws are perfect for dotting about your home in case you feel a bit chilly.  I don’t like to go overboard on beds and sofas with cushions, but a carefully considered selection will instantly make your space feel welcoming, homely and cozy.

Home Accessories

Books are my ultimate styling must-have. I have them everywhere from in the kitchen, on coffee tables and bedsides and lining up bookshelves. They bring colour and structure not to mention something interesting for you to while away a couple of hours with.

Open shelves

Home Accessories

Another one that features in almost every room in my house, I fell for the trend of open shelves hard when it hit and I don’t think my love will ever wane. I love them to style them up practically but also aesthetically. In the kitchen they house all our most used crockery, and in our living room they are more for show, containing some of my favourite pieces and generally just looking fabulous!

Home Accessories

The most practical perhaps of all my favourite home accessories, the basket is a work horse! Use them to store children’s toys (i’ll be getting some more baskets in preparation for my little one’s arrival), logs, spare blankets, plants or even just as accessories. They come in a multitude of styles, always look stylish and help keep your home tidy. What is not to love!

I had it bespoke made to a style that I found on Pinterest! The company that made it for me is local to me called Park Lane Furnishings in Birmingham.x

Hiya, it is a Bloomingville cushion which I bought from House Curious but they don’t seem to stock it anymore I am afraid.

Hello, I just came across your blog – your house is beautiful! Please can I ask where your tall white mirror is from (behind the chase)?
    Thank you!
