The temperatures have just started to drop, and with the change of the clocks last night I can’t deny that it is Autumn any longer. Instead, I guess I shall just have to embrace it…and as a summer girl, at heart it’s not that easy, but there are a few things that make it muuuuuch more enjoyable – boots, scarves, open fires, candles and bubble baths to name a few.
My 30 must-have home accessories under £30 was such a hit I thought I would round up some of my favourite buys for autumn, for the home and the wardrobe.
My Autumn Lust List
Here are some of the things that I am enjoying or lusting after right now.
Lois Avery Cashmere
I prefer to buy fewer, better pieces for my wardrobe as well as my home; pieces that I know I will still be in love with in years to come. My Lois Avery cashmere scare is without a doubt one of those pieces. It is the softest most comforting thing I have ever been lucky enough to have and I have worn it every day for weeks now. It is an investment for sure, but one that you will appreciate every day – it is perfect for Autumn but will work hard all winter, spring and is perfect to drape over bare shoulders on a cool summer evening.
I received my Classic in Cappuccino as an incredibly generous gift from Jennie, Lois Avery’s founder and it goes with everything.
I am more than a little obsessed with brushed cotton / flannel sheets in the cooler autumn and winter months. It reminds me of childhood visits to my grandparents in the North East of Scotland when I would race into a flannel bed with a hot water bottle and hide from the cold! This cute gingham bedding set has me wanting the temperatures to drop so I can crawl into bed and hide!
Go with Everything Boots
Every year I have a struggle to find the perfect boot that will see me through the autumn and winter and go with everything. Something flat that I can wear to work, with trousers, dresses, out … you get the picture. Luckily I spotted this amazing pair (thanks to A Mother’s Edit ) and I can confidently say they go with everything and are as comfy as can be. I am tempted to get a second pair in another colour.
If the darker nights have you heading in to the bath more frequently (it sure happens to me) then you will definitely be needing one of these. I love having a bath caddy – I use it to hold and style up some of my favourite bathroom bits and bobs by day and it comes into its own when you are actually in the bath – a perfect place for a candle, a glass of wine and an iPad 😉
It wouldn’t be a shopping round up from me if it didn’t include a candle now would it?! I have sadly come to the end of a number of my favourite citrus candles but that’s probably good timing as it is time to bring out the warming scents with hints of spices. I have just bought a gorgeous nutmeg candle from Neptune Home and this Mimosa and Cardamon from Jo Malone is a firm favourite in my house.
A Cosy Jacket
I saw this Topshop Teddy Coat last winter but wasn’t quick enough to buy it before it quite rightly sold out. This year I wasn’t taking any chances and snapped it up as soon as I saw it online. It is so cosy, and the added bonus of wearing it is everyone wants to give you a hug! Size down as it comes up big.
