Lusting after: A velvet sofa

Our lounge has quietly gone from the best room in the house to the one most in need of some drastic TLC. And I have a  velvet sofa in mind.

But the problem is, I just can’t chose. A trip to Loaf and Sofa.com on the weekend did little to help. I saw too many sofas that I wanted; I could do up six lounges in six different styles with at least six different amazing sofas. Sadly, I can only afford to do one room, and I just don’t know how I want the finished room to look.

Here are some of the rooms with delicious velvet sofas that have been catching my eye.

The pictures I am drawn to all have bright sofas; teal, yellow, purple. But have I got the guts to go for it? Will I go off it in a year and wish I had chosen something safe and neutral? Would a charcoal or beige be better?

Both Loaf and Sofa.com have great ranges and a wide range of styles and fabrics to pick from. You can pretty much mix and match to create what you want. Here are some of my favourites that I saw:

Loaf’s Brönte chaise longue in Lagoon clever velvet.

Loaf’s Bagsie in Grape Clever Velvet. This one also looked gaw-gus in leather. Loaf had the most soft, supple, beautifully worn leather I have seen in a while and it is seriously tempting me away from velvet (you can see the Bagsie in leather here).

bagsieThis one from Sofa.com is really tempting me too. The bluebell is one of their best sellers and is a great combination of style and super comfort.  It’s in prussia blue here.

And Mr B took a particular liking to this descartes in purple velvet (this picture does not do it justice).

What do you think I should go for? Should I be brave and go for a velvet? What colour? Will I regret it?

Ps this post isn’t sponsored by Loaf or Soaf.com, I just really like these companies which offer great customer service, have a focus on British and have beautiful, well made furniture that looks like it is out of a magazine.

It is a super gorgeous sofa isn’t it!
